Greetings from the Malvern Hills. We hope you have had an enjoyable Christmas and that good things are ahead for all in 2007.
Urgent Notice:
We remind you that submissions to Selwyn District Council are due 29 January 2007.
Thanks to all who sent submissions to Ecan. We urge you, if you have not done so already, to write a submission to Selwyn District Council to oppose the land use consents and the application to designate land required for the CPW scheme. After 6 years this will be the LAST opportunity to have your say on the CPW proposal.
If you are unsure about your interest in land use matters, or you are opposed to the entire scheme, we recommend you lodge a submission on these land use-related applications to further support/complement your position already outlined in your submissions on the Ecan water-related consent applications.
All MHPS members should protest the compulsory taking of land for the scheme and oppose the planned designations. If you are not directly affected and/or you live outside the scheme area you should still oppose the principle of taking land from private individuals for the benefit of other other private landowners. Many MHPS members are seriously affected and will lose their homes and land if the scheme proceeds. Some are expected to live under or near the dam against their wishes. It is extremely important you write a submission in support of the people directly affected, by opposing the designation of land for the dam, reservoir and canals.
Last November we sent submission forms and info sheets to all MHPS members.
Form 13 is for the land use consents to build the network canals.
Form 21 is for the application to designate land for the dam, reservoir, headrace and gravity canals, including intake structures. We have attached the Information Sheet on how to fill out the form and some of the relevant issues.
Please COMPLETE both forms and send to SDC. (Closing date is 29 January 2007)
