How To Help Us

Submissions on the Central Plains scheme have closed but you can still help in a number of ways.

You can inform yourself and others of the potential impacts of the scheme. Organise and/or attend public discussion groups and debates on water issues

If you have expert evidence you wish to present to the CPW Hearing (February 2008) and have not made a submission, please make yourself known to any of the relevant groups.

Write to the Minister for the Environment with your concerns.

Contact your local MP's.

Contact Environment Canterbury, Christchurch City Council and Selwyn District Council with your concerns.

You need to go public with your concerns, don`t leave others to do all the work.

Write letters to the Editor.

Speak out about the issues. Contact talkback radio.

With the elections coming up, find out who the candidates are in your area and ask them where they stand on clean water issues. Support those candidates caring for the environment and protecting water quality and quantity by assisting them with their election campaign. Make your VOTE count.

Join and/or make a donation to the Malvern Hills Protection Society ( send to C/- PDC Glentunnel) or any of the other groups opposing the scheme. See links to other groups.

We NEED your support.

If you would like to send a donation, or you do not want to donate money at this stage, you may like to pledge a donation to be used at the Environment Court Hearing. Contact Bronwyn using the contact form to discuss how you can donate.

If you would like to discuss other ways that you can assist, join the Society, or simply learn more, you can find our contact details on the Contact Us page of this website.
